Located in Leicestershire next to the East Midlands Airport, Donington Park is one of the UK’s most famous circuits.

The unsealed circuit originally opened in 1931, and two years’ later was surfaced, but in 1939 it closed due to the war. In 1971, the circuit was purchased by Tom Wheatcroft, who resurrected the venue and financed the rebuilding of the circuit.

The ‘Melbourne Loop’ was added in 1985 to extend the circuit, and it perhaps reached its peak in 1993 when the European Grand Prix was held on the track.

Today, the British Touring Car Championship is a headline act, although for the past two decades only the shorter National circuit has been used.

In 2017 the circuit was acquired by MotorsportVision from the Wheatcroft family, who had regained the circuit themselves in 2009 following a failed bid to stage F1 in the late 2000s.
